Shiron
In early August I had a guest from France, Catherine Madry.
She is the founder of the largest sighthound adoption group in France, and takes in a lot of Irish greyhounds.
We were driving on a busy road one evening in the pouring rain, and there was a young man running down the road with one whippet on a leash and the other -this little grey lady - running along beside them, unleashed, and well into the road.
"Ohhh noooo" she said, and I pulled the car over, in the rain, in the traffic.
"YOUNG MAN, DO YOU WANT TO SELL YOUR DOG?"
He quickly responded "how much?"
"FORTY!" she offered.
He replied "FIFTY!"
She handed him the money, we threw the dog in the back of the car and drove off.
Catherine sat in the back of the car and towelled the little thing dry while I ran into a shop for some puppy food (always good to give poorly dogs).
She absolutely reeked of mange (the dog, not Catherine!) and little Shiron stayed here at OGS for just over two months while arrangements were made to send her to France.
Shiron turned into a confident little devil, always amusing, always happy.
Little Shiron now lives in Paris, thanks to Catherine, with a family who adore her.
