Mikey
Mikey arrived in late February '09, and is a cheerful, lively fellow who will be 3 years old this year. He arrived here in good condition, but a bundle of jumpy nerves, though he began to calm down very nicely within a few days of arrival (ok, ok, we wore him out a bit).
Keeping company with 5 other greyhounds plus my own three, Mikey has a lovely friendly disposition and has been no problem whatsoever in terms of temperament. He takes the time to look you right in the eyes, and settles down quickly.
Definitely needing some toilet training, Mikey has made some improvement but still needs some time. He is very good on the leash and in the car, and underneath that still slaphappy exterior is a biddable boy!
UPDATE: Mikey is proving to be a very talented little man in addition to having calmed down very nicely and showing a more relaxed and gentle side to him more often.
Mikey's great talent could lead to him becoming the World's First Circus Greyhound, as he seems to have a natural inclination to......walk backwards! This occurs when he is out on a leashed walk, and for one reason or another all the dogs are stopped. Mikey stops, but then very deliberately, takes 3 or 4 rather perfect steps backwards, in a very straight line. Where this amazing and gobsmacking talent will lead to, no one knows! But it is safe to say that he is the first greyhound here, anyway, to voluntarily and spontaneously walk backwards!
UPDATE 2: Mikey was adopted by a family in Oslo with another greyhound and a terrier - he is settling in well.
